Spring Trip
We’re bringing back the AAC spring trip! Mark this weekend in your calendar and keep an ear out for more details to come. AAC trip members will meet in the SRC parking lot at 6 AM. We will attempt the Triangle Peak summit on Sunday and return to Fairbanks that day.

Pre-trip meeting
A time to find your rope team, discuss weather / avy conditions, go over gear, and map out the route for our trip into the Delta mountain range this upcoming weekend.


Gear Swap
The annual AAC gear swap is a great way to buy and sell outdoor gear / clothing. This year we will be located on the lower floor of the Wood Center, in the “mall” (main, large, open space!). Drop-off will be Friday, February 7th in the evening and Saturday, February 8th in the morning. The sale is Saturday afternoon from 1-3PM!! Reach out if you have questions, would like to sell, or are interested in helping out for the event! (Volunteers get first dibs...)

Ice Climbing Presentation
Join Ethan Berkeland as he shares information on ice climbing in the Interior at our annual ice climbing presentation, located at the Schaible Auditorium in the UAF engineering building. Doors open at 6 PM!

Spooky Dry Tooling
Join us at the ice-less ice tower next to the SRC for a night of Halloween-themed dry tooling! For all experience levels - learn how to dry tool, make mountain-minded friends, and come dressed in your Halloween costume… best dressed gets a prize!

Peter MacKeith Grant Presentation
Join Peter MacKeith Grant 2024 recipients as they recall their epic journey around Alaska on October 14th at 6 PM in the Schaible Auditorium.

Tumble in the Tundra
Join the Alaska Alpine club for our annual Tumble in the Tundra competition at Grapefruit Rocks, Sunday May 19th. Teams of 2 will race to climb as many individual sport climbs from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. possible. This is a for fun competition and all skill levels are welcome and encouraged to come and participate. Registration starts at 8:30 at the lower (west) Grapefruit parking lot followed by a safety meeting and rules discussion at 8:50. The event will conclude with a barbeque and winners ceremony. Prizes will be awarded to top 3 scoring teams, best dressed team, and most inspirational team. Must be an AAC member to participate. We hope to see you out there!
2024 Tumble in the Tundra Rules
1. Full point values are for leading cleanly, 3 point reduction for fall/s or hanging, 4 point reduction for top rope ascent
2. Each team consists of only 2 people
3. Only one team member must climb the route to get points
.4. Each climb can only count for points once per team.
5. Teammates do not need to have the same number of routes.
6. Climbers may try a climb as many times as they like for a clean, ground up ascent
7. Honor system for falls and routes climbed
8. Both team mates must return by 5:05 pm or highest point climb will be deducted from your score
9. Please leave the dogs at home.
10. No motorized vehicles may be used during the comp. Bikes allowed
11. Have fun and BE SAFE!

Peter MacKeith Grant Presentation
Ethan Berkeland and August Franzen will be talking about their attempt of the south face of Mt. Shand. They will also present on exploratory ice climbing they have been doing since their trip to Mt. Shand was quite uneventful and mostly consisted of sitting in their tent.

Reel Rock 18
